April Showers Bring More…Bloggers?

The month of April was rather terrific for me. I’m not all about site stats, but I enjoy having an audience and having particular bloggers return to my blog each day to see my new posts. It’s a wonderful feeling. AND Texas weather finally decided that it was done playing games with us. Plenty of days with highs in the 90s and lows in the 70s. Can you say spring? Anyway, why don’t I stop talking about the weather and talk about the month that was.

In April I broke my previous record for posts in a single month. The previous record was set in March with 22. And I also shattered my records for interaction from other bloggers. I mean, you’ll see the numbers in just a bit. This is why I love you all. Seriously, y’all have no idea. I tell people about y’all all the time. Here’s my breakdown for the month. The previous record will be in parenthesis.

OH MY GOODNESS! How are those numbers even possible?! I knew this month was better than March based on my interaction with you guys each day, but when I sat down and calculated everything I was blown away. I love you guys. I don’t care if we’ll never meet face-to-face, I do. 1092 comments!? What the heck are y’all doing on here? Are y’all spamming me? Ha. The hilarious part of that is that one person accounted for 10% of the comments for the month. She’s great. I love her the most. Okay, not really. Yes I do.

  1. I’m still such a noob at blogging and working the interwebs and such, that I don’t really know how to find all my stats, except to go back and physically count everything. And I’m WAY too lazy for that! Congrats on such a great month! You deserve it!

      • Uhhh…. crap. I have to narrow it down?

I honestly can’t pick just one, so I’ll give you a few and I hope the one you like is in there. But I love them all, so you go ahead and pick whichever one you like best.

The ones I guess I like the best is the one on dialogue, the one on backstory, the one on supporting characters, or the one on damaged characters.

But, again, I could write on any or all of them for days.

      • Hmm. Okay. Dialogue I don’t want because I have that on my little notepad already and your post would likely be a million times better. Haha

I actually wanted the one on outlining cause I’ve never written an outline for anything in my life and I’m curious to know which one you prefer and why. But you can pick any one. I’m certain it’ll be great no matter which you choose.

      • Are you talking about Pantsing vs. Outlining? I can easily do that one. And please don’t make me choose! As you said in a previous comment, this blog is your baby, so go ahead and tell me which one you prefer. Like I said, I could talk about any of those topics for days. And since you didn’t choose one of the four I narrowed down, I can just use them for myself, instead!

      • I’m scared. I was going to ask earlier. Then didn’t. Please don’t hate it. Too much. And don’t read the back cover. I don’t even remember what it says. It’s different from the Amazon description. Ugh.

      • Haha! No worries. I opened to a random middle page and read a few lines, and I liked what I read! It didn’t give any of the plot away, so I’ll start and the beginning, and I’m sure I’ll like it. You need more confidence in yourself, man!!!

      • I have confidence in it when it’s someone who isn’t a gazillion times a better writer as I am. I read so many poems and short stories and things like that on here and think about how much better the writing is compared to mine.

      • First of all, you have no idea if I’m a better writer. (If that’s what you meant by your comment). Blogging is a million time different than writing, I think. Plus, we write in completely different genres, so comparing our writing styles would be unfair. As for all those short stories and such… use them as a learning opportunity.

If it makes you feel better, the person who I avoid the most is J.K. Rowling. Since we write in the same genre, it makes sense that I’d respect her. But it’s gotten to the point where I can’t even enjoy her books or the movies anymore because I’m so intimidated. And I love those books! But I can’t read them anymore.

I’m an uber laid back person, but reading her stuff gives me anxiety. So I know a little how you feel.

      • Hmm. Can I hire you to be my personal motivation speaker? It’s not a paid position, BUT I’ll love you forever! That’s more than enough. Say okay.

      • Sure! I’m a FABULOUS personal motivator! It doesn’t always work on me, but everyone else seems to get something out of it. 🙂

I’m terrible at taking my own advice, BTW. But if YOU take my advice, you’ll be feeling good!

      • It requires you travel to Texas too. Face-to-face communication is key. I expect you tomorrow.

I agree. Already. I actually think I might be the same way cause someone told me last week that I should he a personal trainer for writing. Or something.

      • Haha. You have to tell me something to motivate my writing at least once a day. And now it’s after midnight. I await your remarks for the day.

  2. Heyyy, I’m one of those numbers up there! Congratulations on all the great progress; it’s always so encouraging when those stats show up all nice and big, even if they’re not the most important thing (or so we tell ourselves). Best of luck for even better numbers in May!

  3. It’s all my fault! I would take it back if I could but then no one else would make you laugh and i would be out of a job on here! WE LOVE YOU TOO JOHN!!!! congrats!

    • Are you talking about the comments? Cause I just went back and did a little digging and I think you made 22. And someone else made 100. I still appreciate all of them!

      Thanks!
