In only 13 days I’m visiting a new city and state. But I’m a planner when it comes to my trips. The expectation is to take another trip in August, but there’s one question that needs answering: WHERE TO NEXT?
I don’t currently hold a passport. Domestically there are still many places I want to see. But I’m the typical American in at least one regard. I want to make my way through Europe. My prelimunary thoughts on the topic have not done much to aid in my decision making. These are the cities I’ve considered: London, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Amsterdam. London and Rome are at the top of the list. Now you help me decide where to go.
I’ve also thought of Sydney and Tokyo. Here in the US I still have LA, NYC, Grand Canyon, Alaska, Orlando, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Philadelphia on my list.
A little help, please?
I’ve been to Paris, and it’s amazing. I did a whirlwind tour in five days with a college class. If you go, just understand you most likely won’t be able to see everything you want in one go. Unless you’re there for a couple weeks. The Louvre cannot be done in its entirety in one day, either.
I’ve also been all over Ireland, which is wonderfully historic. A lot of movies were shot there, and they have some amazing castles and other things to see. The beginning of the sixth Harry Potter movie was shot at the Cliffs of Moher. Awesome sight. They’re also where the Cliffs of Insanity was filmed in the Princess Bride.
Other than that, I’ve always wanted to go to Rome, Athens, Switzerland, England and Scotland, Norway, and Austria. I also want to get to Egypt and Israel, but might not be the safest time right now. I love Egyptian history and mythology.
But Paris and Ireland are my only two overseas trips so far. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of your choices. It just depends on how comfortable you are going to a non-English speaking country and trying out their language.

Last year I went to see the Grand Canyon and it was absolutely breath-taking! I would highly recommend taking a trip there to go see! If you’re an out doors kind of person and like walking / hiking, I would spend most of the day there ad checking out the different lookouts and activities / sight seeing groups they have.

Hi, if you go overseas won’t you need a passport? And why not find a group or a tour guide that way your trip should be a lot better. Rome maybe a good place to start.
